Q&A WITH CHRIS CLASSIC

0 Comments 29 June 2010

1) how did you come up with the name Chris Classic

Actually Jam Master Jay came up with the name from the times when I would have to go to the studio still wearing a suit from church.

2)Where are you from and whats your current location?

Im from Hempstead,NY currently live in New Jersey.

3)How long have you writing and performing music?

Been writing since I was 11. Started off writing poetry to get girls. Then it turned into writing songs.

4)What is your music background?

I grew up listening to alot of Contemporary Jazz. I liked hip hop as I got introduced to it when I was around 15. For the most part I couldnt listen to anything else that parents taught me was a “bad influence”

5)What inspires you to make new music?

A lot of different things: thinking of someone, seeing the clouds, being stuck in traffic. Also the amount of trash on the radio doesnt help.

6)How would you explain your style?

Versatile. Relatable. Passionate.

7)Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years and what would you like to accomplish?

Im apart of a Hip Rock Soul group called New Terrace Heights. Im sure in the next 5 years you will hear our music . Its dope. Our goal is to take over the world. We’ll see!   Also I plan on expanding a company I created called Up 2 Picture. Its a music company that  will focus on supplying media with urban music and alternative music performed by minorities. Also I see The Life Anthology taking on legs of its own as a brand. Other than that I only plan on doing whatever the Spirit leads me to.

8)Any new projects on the horizon?

Movie wise im working on several at the moment, Big Mommas House, Lottery Ticket, Hop, The Muppets. I also plan on releasing a new Summer Classic MixTape and continuing to work on the New Terrace Heights album.

9)Who are your musical influences?

Quincy Jones, ATCQ, Sade, Jay Z, John Mayer, Pharrell

10)How would you define the word “success”?

Being able to enjoy happy moments consistently instead of just jadedly seeking the next check. The Feeling that what you do to make a living is NOT “work.”

Here are a couple of my favorite tracks that Classic has done
